Getting Healthier

So I have been working to get healthier. There are a ton of rules and tips out there. I mean everyone has an opinion on what you should eat, drink or even the pills you should take. It can be a little overwhelming when you try to get started. I mean I have even seen articles that completely contradict the exercises I have always known. It can make a person not even want to deal with it at all.

Here are some easy steps that I have found to get me started and they are not difficult at all. I still eat what I want right now and drink what I want I have just made a few changes to get started and I plan on making more as I progress. I figure easing itno it is much better thatn trying to do everything cold turkey. That is usually when I fail. A great free website to help you keep track of what you are doing each day so you can track your progress is sparkpeople.com. They even count vaccuming as exersice so check it out.

To start I have cut down on the amount of pop I drink. I really like Coke. My family grew up drinking it so I really just want it plus it is my caffien for the day. I have gotten through this by buying the smaller bottles. Then when it is gone I start drinking water. for the rest of the day. There are days I may have two but the key is to not give into the big one. Do not do diet. They just replace the sugar with more salt so then you are risking high blood pressure instead. Another option if you need flavor and you have already had your pop for the day is juice or tea. I find that I like the green tea with citrus as well.

Next you don't have to stop eating out just do it less. When you go to the grocery store make sure you have a list and a plan of different meals that you can make. I even buy pizza rolls for a quick dinner. I am more likely to eat less of those than I am filling up on fries and such. Plus they are usually pretty cheap and you can find coupons for them. I do a roast in the crock pot. You put the roast some potatoes, some carrots, some celery and seasoning, put in some water and start it on low in the morning and you can go about your day and you have a healthy meal. If you do go to McDonalds think smaller. I even like to share. I buy a meal and supersize then buy my husbands sandwich then we split the fry. We both get some but not so much it is an overload. Also buy fruit and have it in the house. If it is there you will eat it. Apples have fiber in the skin so that is very helpful to your body. Make sure it something you really like and keep it where you can see it all the time. I like apples and bananas. So I keep the apples on the kitchen table and the bananas on a hanging thing so I can just walk by and grab one when the mood strikes.

I bet you are asking yourself well what about exersize. One way is cleaning your home. That gets a good work out. Walk to the playground with your kids if it is close by or push them on the swing, get on the swing yourself. I actually got some "cheater" equipment. I got the ab circle. You just make it roll and it worls your abs. It also works your arms If you live close enough walk your child to and from school. Take your dog on a walk. Jump rope it can really burn some calories and if you have a child get two and do it together. It doesn't have to be anything crazy just move for a little bit each day. Go to the mall a couple times a week and window shop the whole mall.

Yes I do take a supplement. I do not however take anything too crazy. Currently I take Mega-T Green Tea with Acai Berry. My favorite product however is called Ultra 90. I just have not ordered it in awhile. I take extra steps because I have a lot to lose and a medical condition that makes it a tad harder to lose the weight. I am not suggesting that everyone start pill popping but if you have an ok from your doctor that it will not interfer with anything then I say it doesn't hurt as long as you are reponsible.

The main thing is you move. As long as you are healthy enough. If you do have health problems ask your doctor how much you can do a day and start with half of that. If they say 10 min then start by walking up and down your hallway for 5. Fold laundry if you do not already. I live on a dead end road so I like to just walk to the end and back. It is about moveing during the day. If you normally ride the electric scooter through the store try leaning on a cart and see how far you can walk before you get tired. Small steps is the key to big success.

I am not a profesional but I am a person who has had a difficult time with weight and found something that works. It is not drastic and I am able to do this with everyday changes. I figure as I get more fit I will make more changes to fit how I am at that point but I feel like telling a big person to start running tomorrow is about as effective as getting a dog with artheritis to run like when it was a puppy. You can ask but odds are it will not happen. If you give it time and the right stuff it might slowly be able to jog, just like I hope to do by summer.

Good Luck I plan to keep writing about how it is going and if anyone wants to write in or share I would be so excited. Life is challenging but it can be lived.
